Luke Zimmern was an early Twentieth Century German economist and social scientist, known for his extensive research of the armaments industry, published in his 1913 book Entwickelung und Geschichte von Kruppismus ("The Development and History of Kruppism"). The term "Kruppism", which was invented by Zimmern and did not gain general currency, referred not only to the Krupp family and firm but to the armaments industry in general.
